Sindh Karachi🇵🇰 / Sadiqabad | April 20, 2026

A wave of grief and indignation has swept across the country following the death of 14-year-old Muqaddas, a minor Christian girl who passed away in a Karachi Intensive Care Unit (ICU) today. Muqaddas and her 8-year-old sister, Zarish, were victims of a cross-provincial kidnapping and human trafficking ring.

The Abduction and Recovery

The harrowing ordeal began in Sadiqabad, Punjab, where the two sisters were reportedly lured away from their home by an unidentified woman under the pretext of buying medicine. According to police statements, the sisters were then forcibly transported to Karachi, where they were allegedly sold.

The girls were eventually discovered abandoned late at night near the Shirin Jinnah Colony bus stop, within the jurisdiction of the Boat Basin Police Station.

Medical Crisis and Confirmation of Abuse

Upon being taken into custody for questioning, the elder sister, Muqaddas, fell critically ill at the police station. She was rushed via an Edhi ambulance to a local hospital.

Medical Report Summary: Forensic examinations have since confirmed that Muqaddas was subjected to severe sexual abuse during her captivity.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals in the ICU, the 14-year-old succumbed to the trauma and injuries sustained during her ordeal. Her younger sister, 8-year-old Zarish, has been safely reunited with her family, though she remains under the protection of the Boat Basin Police as the investigation continues.

Official Response and Investigation

Sindh Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon has taken formal notice of the tragedy. He has issued strict directives to provincial authorities to:

  • Ensure full legal protection for the surviving minor.

  • Provide all necessary assistance to the grieving family.

  • Apprehend the suspects involved in the trafficking and assault.

Initial reports suggest that at least two unidentified suspects were involved in the direct assault of the elder girl, in addition to the woman who carried out the initial abduction in Punjab.

A Community in Mourning

The Christian community and human rights activists have called for immediate justice, highlighting the escalating vulnerability of minor girls to trafficking and gender-based violence.

Legal proceedings are currently underway as police track the trail of the kidnappers from Sadiqabad to Karachi. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the unidentified woman or the suspects involved to come forward.
