Young Christian Woman in Balochistan🇵🇰 Faces Retaliation After Resisting Sexual Harassment

Balochistan- A deeply troubling case has emerged involving Laiba Patras, a 20-year-old Christian woman, who is reportedly facing retaliation after resisting sexual harassment and an attempted assault.

Laiba was employed as a domestic worker at the residence of Daud Khan Kharoti, an individual identified as an employee associated with UNICEF Balochistan. According to reports, when Laiba resisted inappropriate behavior and an attempted sexual assault, a false theft accusation was subsequently filed against her. This appears to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate her, silence her voice, and damage her credibility.

The misuse of authority in this case highlights the severe vulnerabilities faced by religious minority women, particularly those from economically marginalized backgrounds. Instead of receiving protection and justice, victims often encounter further persecution when they speak out.

This incident raises serious concerns about abuse of power, workplace accountability, and the safety of minority women in Pakistan, especially in regions where access to justice is already limited.

We strongly urge UNICEF Pakistan to take immediate notice of this matter, initiate an impartial investigation, and ensure accountability if the allegations are substantiated. Transparency and zero tolerance for abuse are essential to maintaining public trust and safeguarding human rights.

We also call upon human rights organizations, civil society, religious leaders, and legal advocates to stand in solidarity with Laiba Patras and to ensure she receives protection, legal support, and justice.

Justice for Laiba Patras is not just about one case. Silence today risks endangering another daughter tomorrow.
