Karyoghnoor, April 29 — Tensions flared in the Rama Pir locality of Karyoghnoor early this morning after a shocking incident involving alleged misconduct by Kotri police personnel. According to local residents, four individuals — two in police uniforms and two in civilian clothing — forcibly entered a private residence at dawn and took a man, identified as Nanji Meghwar, a local mechanic, to an undisclosed location without providing any explanation to the family.
The incident has sparked serious concern and public anger, as the family of Nanji Meghwar has accused the police of violating the sanctity of the chadar and char dewari — a deep cultural and religious principle that guards the privacy and dignity of one’s home.
In a public protest held shortly after the incident, relatives and local residents gathered to denounce the Kotri police’s actions, demanding the immediate release of Nanji Meghwar and accountability from the authorities.
“We were sleeping when four men barged into our home without warning. Two were in uniform and two in plain clothes. They kidnapped our relative Nanji without telling us anything,” said one of the protesting family members. “We don’t know where he is or why he was taken. This is a grave injustice.”
The protesters appealed to senior law enforcement and government officials to take notice of the alleged abuse of power and ensure the safe return of Nanji Meghwar. They warned that if no action is taken, the community will launch wider and stronger protests.
Incidents like this raise serious questions about due process, human rights, and the accountability of local police forces. The right to security, dignity, and information must be upheld in all law enforcement operations, regardless of the circumstances.
As of now, Kotri police have not issued an official statement regarding the matter. Community members continue to demand transparency and immediate intervention by higher authorities.
