Allegations of Forced Conversion in Sindh🇵🇰 Spark Concern Among Minority Community

Hyderabad, Sindh🇵🇰 | April 16, 2026

A case emerging from Hyderabad has drawn attention on social media and among minority rights groups, after a Hindu family alleged that their teenage daughter was abducted, forcibly converted, and married.

According to initial reports circulating online, the girl- identified as Pooja, daughter of Ramsun Thakur and a resident of Hyderabad- was a 9th-grade student. Her family claims that she was kidnapped and later subjected to forced conversion and marriage to a man identified as Imran Ali, son of Allah Wario. It has also been claimed that she was given the name “Dua Fatima” after conversion.

Family’s Allegations

The girl’s parents have alleged that their daughter was taken against her will, and further claim that she may have been coerced through threats. They also stated that she left home with money and jewelry, suggesting possible inducement or manipulation.

The family has appealed to authorities for intervention and protection, expressing fears for their daughter’s safety and well-being.

Contradictory Narratives Common in Such Cases

Cases involving alleged forced conversions in Sindh often involve conflicting accounts. In many past incidents, girls have appeared in court stating that they converted and married of their own free will, while families insist coercion was involved.

As of now, no official police statement or court ruling has been publicly confirmed in this specific case. Authorities typically investigate such matters to determine whether the individual is a minor and whether consent was freely given.

Wider Context

Incidents of alleged forced conversions have been reported periodically in Sindh, particularly affecting minority Hindu communities. Human rights organizations have repeatedly called for stronger legal safeguards, including stricter enforcement of laws regarding child marriage and forced religious conversion.

At the same time, legal experts note that courts rely heavily on the testimony of the individual involved, especially in determining consent and age.

Calls for Investigation

Civil society groups and activists have urged the government to ensure a transparent investigation into the matter. They emphasize the need to protect the rights of both minorities and individuals, while ensuring that justice is based on verified facts rather than social media narratives.
