Mirpurkhas, Sindh🇵🇰 – March 25, 2026

A young Hindu woman from Kot Ghulam Muhammad town in Sindh’s Mirpurkhas district has reportedly converted to Islam and married a Muslim man in a local court. The development comes amid a separate case involving the alleged abduction and forced conversion of a minor Hindu girl, renewing debate about the protection of religious minorities in the region.

Conversion and Court Marriage

According to local sources, Rani Dhi Ramon, an unmarried Hindu woman from Kot Ghulam Muhammad, appeared before a court in Mirpurkhas where she formally embraced Islam. After converting, she was given the Muslim name Sadia.

Following her conversion, she married Khalid, son of Allah Dattu, a resident of the same town. The marriage was reportedly solemnized through legal procedures in court in Mirpurkhas.

After their marriage, the couple appealed to the authorities for protection, stating that they fear threats or pressure due to their decision. They requested the district administration and local law-enforcement agencies to ensure their safety and provide legal protection.

Kot Ghulam Muhammad is one of the administrative talukas of Mirpurkhas district and has a population of more than 310,000 people, according to recent census estimates.
The Mirpurkhas district overall has a population of around 1.68 million residents, most of whom live in rural areas where agriculture is the main source of livelihood.

Demographic Context

Mirpurkhas is considered one of the districts in Sindh with a relatively large minority population. Census data indicates that Hindus constitute more than 40 percent of the district’s population, making it one of the areas in Pakistan where Hindu communities are most concentrated.

In several rural talukas of the district- including Kot Ghulam Muhammad—Hindus form a significant share of the population and live alongside Muslim communities.
Many Hindu families in the area belong to scheduled caste communities and have historically worked in agriculture and rural labor sectors.

Separate Case of Minor Girl’s Alleged Abduction

In a separate development, a 14-year-old Hindu girl identified as Anbo Kolhi was reportedly abducted about a month ago from Landi village near Dodo Khan Laghari in the Mirpurkhas region.

According to her family members and local community representatives, the minor girl was allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted, and forcibly converted to Islam before being married against her will. Her family has appealed to authorities to recover the girl and take legal action against those responsible.

Local activists and community leaders have urged the police to conduct a transparent investigation into the allegations.

Ongoing Concerns Over Minority Protection

Cases involving the alleged abduction or conversion of girls from minority communities have periodically been reported in parts of interior Sindh, particularly in districts such as Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar.

Human rights organizations and minority rights activists have repeatedly called for stronger enforcement of laws protecting minors and minority communities. They emphasize that cases involving underage girls must be investigated under relevant laws, including the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, which sets the legal minimum age for marriage at 18.

At the time of publication, officials had not issued a detailed public statement regarding the alleged abduction case. Families and community members continue to demand swift action from law-enforcement authorities.
