Khairpur, Sindh – In a distressing incident highlighting the ongoing plight of minorities in Pakistan, approximately 20 non-Muslim families from Waris Gumbhir village near Thari have been coerced into converting to Islam by Imam Ahlsunnat Allama Abdul Jabbar Hydri. This forced conversion also included the imposition of Islamic names on these families, further erasing their cultural identity.
This alarming development is part of a broader trend where Hindu families, the original heirs of Sindh, face increasing threats, including the abduction of young girls and coercion into conversion. The silence of the state regarding these incidents sends a chilling message that such actions may be occurring with tacit approval.
It is becoming increasingly evident that there is a systematic conspiracy to convert minority communities in Pakistan to Islam, employing both force and manipulation. This situation not only undermines the rights of individuals to practice their faith freely but also poses a dire threat to the cultural heritage of these communities.
The eyes of the world are upon us as we witness this troubling spectacle. And we need to raise our voices forcefully to the world’s social organizations and the United Nations for justice and protection for all minority communities in Pakistan. Otherwise, it will be too late.
Let us stand together to #StopForcedConversions and advocate for the rights and dignity of every individual, regardless of their faith. The time to act is now.
