The Pakistan Dalit Solidarity Network (PSDN) and The Knowledge Forum (TKF) jointly organized a press briefing and launching ceremony for the report titled “Country Report on the Status of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent in Pakistan” at the Karachi Press Club on Friday.
Ms. Anis Haroon, Member of the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) for Sindh, Dr. Sono Khangharani of the Pakistan Dalit Solidarity Network, Pirbul Lal Satinyani, Member of the National Commission for the Rights of Child, Zulfiqar Shah, Member of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, along with PSDN members Ms. Bhagwani Rathor and Ms. Pushpa Kumari, and others were present at the ceremony.
During the event, they emphasized that discriminating against anyone on the basis of religion is a crime. They called upon political parties to allocate reserved seats for Scheduled Caste communities in Sindh and urged for the immediate resolution of the problems faced by the Scheduled Caste in the region.
