A case has been registered at Tando Muhammad Khan police station, filed by Amichand, son of Ajmal Thakur, a resident of village Haji Muhammad Samu in the Tando Muhammad Khan district of Sindh. According to the complaint, Hindu married woman Soni Thakur, along with her innocent child, was abducted and forcibly converted.
Amichand Thakur, the son of Ajmal, is a poor Hindu who earns his living as a laborer. Amichand, son of Ajmal, was married to Soni nine years ago, and they have three children, including two sons and a daughter.
According to Amichand, the accused Kazim Machhi used to sexually harass his wife. On December 4, 2023, a white car stopped at the gate of the house, with Kazim Machhi, Irfan Machhi, and Abbas Machhi inside. They entered the house armed with a pistol and an axe. Soni was kidnapped with her nine-month-old son, Ashan, in her lap, and they fled. Amichand, Soni’s husband, stated that his wife was abducted, forcibly converted, and Kazim Machhi claimed to have married her. The situation at Amichand’s house is heartbreaking, with Soni’s two-year-old innocent son and 5-year-old daughter crying for their mother.
Amichand has been waiting for justice for fifteen days without any assistance. He demands immediate action against the accused and the recovery of his hostage wife. In Pakistan, it is a crime for a woman to marry another husband while still having one husband. However, in this case, Soni, a Hindu married woman, was kidnapped and claimed to be married to the accused Kazim, but no action has been taken against him. This raises a significant question about the lack of intervention in such cases.
