Hindu Mother and Daughter Reportedly Abducted in Sindh🇵🇰, Sparking Concerns Over Minority Safety

Sindh🇵🇰: Reports circulating on social media claim that a Hindu woman and her minor daughter were abducted at gunpoint near Dhilyar in Khipro, a town in Sindh province, raising fresh concerns among minority rights advocates about the safety of religious minorities in the country.

According to posts shared online, the woman—identified as Pari, 35—and her 10-year-old daughter Sapna were allegedly kidnapped by armed men while traveling near Dhilyar. Some social media accounts claim the victims were subjected to sexual assault and forcibly converted to Islam after the abduction. However, these specific allegations have not been independently verified by major international media organizations.

Local activists and community members have expressed concern about the incident and alleged that authorities initially refused to register a police complaint, though official confirmation of this claim remains unclear.

Growing Fear Among the Hindu Community

Pakistan’s Hindu community—most of whom live in the southern province of Sindh—has long voiced concerns about cases of abduction, forced marriage, and religious conversion, particularly involving women and girls from economically vulnerable families.

In several reported cases, minority activists claim that young Hindu girls are abducted and later declared to have converted to Islam and married their abductors, making legal recovery difficult for their families.

For example, in December 2025, another case involving a Hindu mother and her minor daughter reportedly kidnapped by armed men in Sindh sparked fears of forced conversion and marriage within the community. The incident alarmed civil rights groups and prompted calls for stronger protection for minorities.

Minority Rights Concerns in Pakistan

Religious minorities make up a small percentage of Pakistan’s population. Hindus represent roughly 1.6–2% of the population, with the majority living in Sindh province.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly urged Pakistani authorities to strengthen legal protections for minorities, investigate allegations of forced conversions, and ensure that victims and their families receive justice.

Over the years, several controversial cases involving minority women have attracted public attention and protests. One widely discussed incident was the death of a Sindhi Hindu medical student, Namrita Chandani, whose 2019 case triggered protests and demands for an independent investigation after allegations of sexual assault and murder.

Calls for Investigation

Minority rights activists say incidents like the reported abduction near Khipro highlight the need for transparent investigations and stronger enforcement of laws protecting vulnerable communities.

They have urged provincial authorities in Sindh to ensure that any allegations are thoroughly investigated and that those responsible are held accountable if the claims are proven true.

Government officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the specific claims involving Pari and her daughter.
