The term ‘Navratri’ translates to ‘nine nights,’ and its rich history is deeply embedded in the fabric of Indian culture. This auspicious Hindu festival is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, A symbol of strength, compassion, and resilience. This year, Navratri will be celebrated globally, including in India, from Thursday, October 2, to October 11, 2024.
Throughout these nine days, devotees engage in a plethora of cultural activities, including prayers, fasting, music, and dance. The festival serves not only as a time for spiritual devotion but also as an opportunity to come together as communities, sharing in the joy and festivities that characterize this remarkable celebration.

The 9 nights of Navratri are for the 9 forms of Maa Durga. From the daughter of the mountains, to the mother of Lord Kartikeya, the Navdurga are loved, feared, and worshipped by all. And the 9 forms are – Maa Shailputri, the daughter of the mountains. Maa Brahmacharini, the ascetic form of Maa Durga. Maa Chandraghanta, the one who wears a crescent moon and is always courageous. Maa Kushmanda, the creator of the Universe. Maa Skandamata, who is considered to be the mother of Lord Kartikeya. Maa Katyayani, one of the most fierce forms of Maa Durga. Maa Kaalratri, the one who destroys ignorance and darkness. Maa Mahagauri, who is the symbol of purity and serenity, and Maa Siddhidatri, the one who gives ‘Siddhis’, or knowledge and wisdom.

This festival encourages us to cultivate virtues such as strength, courage, purity, and wisdom in our daily lives. It serves as a reminder of the power of the feminine spirit and the importance of nurturing our inner selves.
