April 1, 2025 – The tragic trend of forced conversions in Pakistan has taken a new turn. Suraj Kumar, A 20-year-old Hindu youth from Samaro District, Umarkot, Sindh, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. A day later, he resurfaced as Muhammad Ali, having allegedly embraced Islam in Gulzar Khalil. What transpired during those missing hours? The answer is as chilling as it is familiar.
Until now, Hindu girls in Sindh have been the primary victims of abductions, coercion, and forced conversions. But now, Hindu boys are also being targeted. Suraj Kumar’s sudden disappearance, followed by his ‘voluntary’ conversion, is yet another alarming case that exposes the systematic persecution of minorities in Pakistan.
Reports suggest that Hindu boys are now being threatened with blasphemy accusations, an offense that carries severe consequences in Pakistan, often resulting in extrajudicial violence. With fear of being falsely accused and lynched, these young boys have no choice but to submit. What happened to Suraj Kumar is not an isolated incident—it signals the beginning of an even more widespread oppression.
Despite repeated pleas from Sindh’s minority communities, the world remains disturbingly silent. Global human rights organizations, policymakers, and advocates who claim to champion religious freedom must break this silence and take urgent action. The Hindu community of Sindh is being systematically erased—will the world watch and do nothing?
The time for condemnation is over. It is time for action.
The global community must intervene before more innocent lives are lost to this brutality. Justice must prevail.
